About the Designer
Stuart Weitzman may be best known for his glamorous special-occasion footwear, admired and photographed on red carpets and runways. But as his fanatically loyal customers know, there’s a Stuart Weitzman shoe for every setting, from corporate boardroom to casual lunch. From elegant pumps to waterproof Gore-Tex rain boots; from traditional moccasins to innovative sandals, the styling is always on-trend yet timeless, the attention to detail impressive. And the fit? Few other designers offer such an extensive range of sizes and widths, from AAAA through C.
Weitzman was born in 1942 into a “shoe family”: his father, known as Mr. Seymour, was a shoe designer himself. Stuart designed his first shoe when he was just 20 and added it to the Mr. Seymour line, where it sold well. He took over his father’s business in the 1960s and to this day continues to oversee design and production. (He is one of very few shoe designers who is also a skilled patternmaker.) For more than 30 years, Stuart Weitzman shoes have been made in Elba, Spain; each pair takes six to seven weeks of production time and is handled by 80 craftsmen.
In addition to offering a comprehensive selection of Stuart Weitzman footwear, Arthur Beren is pleased to present Stuart Weitzman handbags in coordinating styles and materials.
