Salvatore Ferragamo, the company’s founder, made his first pair of shoes at age nine, in his home village of Bonito in Italy’s Campane region. At 16 he came to America, eventually settling in Southern California and becoming the highly sought-after shoemaker to stars of the silent movie industry. When he returned to his native country he established a factory in Florence, where he continued to experiment with unconventional materials—including cork, raffia, and cellophane—and to invent new constructions such as the gloved arch and the cage heel.

Ferragamo today continues the legacy of its founder while continually developing exciting new designs. As always, quality and fit—in an extensive range of sizes—are paramount.
